My name is Khoi B Phan, but some of my close friends call me Khoizinho. With over 15+ years of experience as a creative director, I have enjoyed a diverse background working across agencies and in-house creative brands. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of collaborating with prestigious clients such as Nike, NBA, Premier League, Verizon and working in-house at companies like Airbnb, AKQA, EA SPORTS FIFA, and currently the Executive Creative Director at Strava.
Prior to Strava served as the Executive Creative Director at Sorare (ranked #2 in Gaming by FastCo in 2023). I’m a web3 advocate having been in the space personally since 2017 and professionally with blockchain creative development. During my time at Sorare, I successfully built the Brand + Creative team from 2 to 15 creatives within just 6 months. Sorare, fresh from a Series B, had limited awareness, and my role involved architecting the brand direction and vision by establishing three distinct sports verticals: Global Football, NBA, and MLB. Global Football, with over 300 teams from prominent leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, MLS, and Dutch Eredivisie, emerged as Sorare's largest vertical. I also developed the creative playbook for Sorare's partnerships team, incorporating unique integrated creative storytelling with top clubs including AC Milan, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, PSG, and many others.
We achieved remarkable brand growth, expanding the user base by 8x through major brand moments such as the Global Cup (a free-to-play fantasy World Cup tournament with 600k players), the announcement of the Premier League partnership (a 4-year, 8-figure deal), the launch of Major League Baseball season two, and the NBA in Paris event. I collaborated closely with my teammates to devise acquisition strategies, encompassing growth marketing, and organic strategies, and leading the re-design of sorare.com.
Before joining Sorare, I held the position of global creative director at EA SPORTS FIFA, where I led the brand transformation across FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and the final FIFA 23 launch. Working with iconic athletes like Kylian Mbappe, Vini Jr, Virgil Van Dijk, David Beckham, Zidane, Son Heung-Min, Sam Kerr, and top football clubs such as PSG, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City, Dortmund, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Chelsea, I led over 100 global Marcom campaigns. One of my proudest moments was collaborating with Wieden + Kennedy and Jungle Directors to deliver the final TV spot for EA SPORTS FIFA 23, which became the best-selling title in the franchise's history.
Prior to my role at EA, I served as the global creative lead on the marcom team at Airbnb, where I developed art direction for new product offerings, specifically focusing on Airbnb Experiences. For the launch of Airbnb Adventures, a series of multiday trips led by local experts, I led a team of product designers, writers, photographers, DPs, and editors to craft a unique brand identity. This approach, centered on inclusivity and accessibility in adventure travel, resulted in a 10x growth within the first 6 months. Our team successfully replicated this 360 campaign strategy for the launches of Animal and Cooking Experiences, which increased brand awareness and bookings by 5 percent.
