Six strangers. One epic adventure. Zero clues what happens next. Follow a few brave souls who dropped what they were doing and traveled to a completely unknown location.

ROLE: CREATIVE LEAD

Brief:
For the launch of Airbnb Adventures, come up with a disruptive campaign activation idea that showcases the power of adventure travel. My role as the creative lead was to drive the creative vision across every touchpoint from start to finish. From concepting to on the ground creative direction, I was the DRI for the story of Six Strangers – highlighting testimonies of guest transformation.

Insight:
Our social media feeds fill us with wanderlust. We yearn for transformational adventures, but don’t know how to make them a reality for ourselves.

Idea
As part of the launch of Airbnb Adventures, we created an experiential campaign activation that sent six strangers on a surprise adventure to Oman. We built a button on our site daring people to take a leap of faith and apply to join a trip to an undisclosed location. We selected a global cast, booked all of their travel, and told them to show up at the airport without a clue where they were headed. We also sent them GoPros and asked them to film themselves in anticipation of and during the whole trip.

My role
As the creative lead and DRI of the Adventures campaign, I drove every detail of this project from concept to execution.

Pre-Launch easter egg

If you came across a random button inviting you on the adventure of a lifetime, would you click it? For the launch of Airbnb Adventures, a mysterious button appeared on Airbnb.com. It dared anyone who clicked to drop what they were doing, put their lives on hold, and travel on an all-expenses-paid adventure.
